Lucian's Problem
I have just read your problem Lucian, and I do understand your predictament. For those of you who haven't read Lucian's post. Here is her problem.
So recently, I've been really getting quite serious about riding and being out at the barn. I play hockey as well, which my parents totally and indefinitely support. I really would like to stop playing hockey so I can be at the barn more, and try other sports. My parents said that "they support me whichever way I go", but they don't mean it. They would kill me if I even mentioned quitting hockey, and if they didn't kill me then, they would ABSOLUTELY kill me if I said that I wanted to make horse riding my main sport. They said to me "even though you're a goalie, you can still play out of the net. We just don't want you to quit hockey." At the level I'm playing at, I would NEVER EVER EVER catch up to the other players and never be considered a decent player. I just don't know how to make my parents understand how much I want to be at the barn and ride and help out. Thanks, LL
Lucian may be you could slowly get into riding horses. Be around them more and tell your parents how much you enjoy being around them. Your happy statements might change their minds. That is my opinion to your problem, here is other EV players' opinions.
EV Player 1# Opinion:
Try to ease into it start by maybe just starting with being at the barn more then moving into less hockey? My parents don't like horses either. I need new boots because my current ones cause blisters, I have to pay. My sister wants a new soccer ball even though she has 3, she can a shiny blue expensive ball which she propylene loses within the week.
EV Player 2# Opinion:
Have you tried having a serious "sit down" of sorts with them? Maybe try explaining how you really feel to them? I played soccer for 6 years before I finally sat down and told my parents i'd rather ride/do other sports than play soccer.
